The Midwest School of Eskrima, located in Fort Wayne, IN, was founded to promote and perpetuate the traditional arts of the Philippine Islands, and to present the art of Eskrima as a complete and viable art of self-defense. Basically, Eskrima covers three phases of training; stick, blade, and empty hand fighting, but covers the gamut of self-defense tools, drawing from grappling, trapping, boxing skills, and kicking to make it one of the most complete martial arts in the world today. The instructors of the Midwest School of Eskrima strive to present the art in an environment that is conducive to learning, but realize that realism must be preserved in order to offer the best overall martial arts education that we can. The student progresses at their own rate, with safety the utmost priority. Equal attention is given to the historical significance of the art, and our students are well-versed in the history of their art, and are well aware of the rich lineage that they descend from.
